What you'll bring to the role:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.)—required
- Current state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience or interest in working 1:1 with pediatric students
- Ability to create and adapt individualized instructional materials for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with educational teams, parents, and related service providers
- Flexibility, reliability, and a positive, student-centered approach
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering individualized instruction and support to a visually impaired student across all academic and functional areas
- Developing and implementing adaptations and accommodations according to the student’s IEP
- Conducting ongoing assessments to monitor progress and update strategies as needed
- Working closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and ancillary staff to foster an inclusive educational environment
- Providing guidance and training to staff and families on accessibility, assistive technology, and best practices for visually impaired learners
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to IEP meetings and documentation
