Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Lafayette, Indiana

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field
- Current certification or licensure to teach students with visual impairments
- Experience developing and adapting curriculum for students with vision loss
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, educators, and support personnel
- Ability to conduct and interpret functional vision assessments and learning media assessments
- Skilled in teaching the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred, though strong new graduates are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students ranging from early childhood through secondary levels
- Adapt classroom materials and provide instruction based on student-specific vision needs
- Support teachers and staff in differentiating curriculum and accommodations
- Maintain detailed records and ongoing communication with families
- Advocate for student independence and success in both academic and social environments
