This contract opportunity is ideal for adaptable professionals with expertise in teaching the visually impaired (TVI) and orientation & mobility (O&M). You’ll provide essential instruction and guidance to students in multiple schools within the district, making a tangible difference in their educational journeys and daily lives.
Assignment Details:
- Position runs from ASAP through December 18, 2026, with the potential to extend for the full year.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm schedule.
- The role will serve several schools across the district, currently including 3 schools for TVI and 3 schools for O&M (subject to change).
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
- Orientation & Mobility specialist credentials highly preferred.
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in school settings.
- Ability to travel between multiple school buildings as needed.
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills.
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering direct instruction and support to visually impaired students, individually and in groups.
- Conducting assessments and adapting curriculum to meet students’ unique needs.
- Collaborating with staff and families to develop and implement individualized plans.
- Providing orientation & mobility training to help students safely navigate various environments.
- Documenting student progress and participating in IEP meetings across assigned schools.
