Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Kent, WA
Make a meaningful difference supporting students as an educator specializing in visual impairment for the 2026–2027 academic year. This part-time, contract opportunity allows you to provide expert instruction and support for a caseload of eight students, each with unique needs for weekly, monthly, and quarterly service minutes, totaling approximately 15 hours per week. Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification required
- Must complete fingerprinting process through OSPI
- Demonstrated expertise working with children and adolescents who are visually impaired
- Background in developing individualized educational plans (IEPs) and adaptive curriculum
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective family and team collaboration
- Experience tailoring instructional strategies for a range of abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly provide instructional services to a caseload of approximately eight students in accordance with their IEPs
- Assess student progress, adapt teaching materials, and collaborate on student goals
- Consult and partner with general education staff and related service providers to support accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, service logs, and required compliance records
- Communicate proactively with families and educational teams
