Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual disabilities
• Proficiency in Braille, large print, and accessible technology tools
• Ability to conduct functional vision assessments and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration skills for working with classroom teachers, specialists, and families
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet student needs in different classroom environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
• Assess students’ abilities and tailor lessons to foster independence and academic success
• Support the use of assistive technology and orientation/mobility strategies
• Participate in IEP meetings, providing input on educational goals and accommodations
• Train staff and caregivers in best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
