Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
• Experience working with children and adolescents with varying levels of visual impairment
• Proficient in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive communication methods
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
• Assess student abilities and adapt curriculum materials and lesson plans accordingly
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive practices
• Teach students the use of Braille, large print, magnification tools, and other adaptive technology
• Advocate for students’ needs, ensuring appropriate accommodations and accessibility within the school environment
• Contribute to professional development for staff around visual impairment strategies
• Monitor and document progress towards IEP goals while adjusting approaches as needed
