Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adapted instructional materials
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and individualized education planning
- Ability to assess student needs and develop appropriate instructional strategies
- Up-to-date knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and Section 504 compliance
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths and areas of need
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service personnel, and families to ensure student success
- Instruct students in the use of Braille, large print, technology, and assistive devices
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
