1:1 Pediatric Long-Term Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Montpelier, VT

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or higher is required
• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Previous experience working with visually impaired students, preferably in a 1:1 capacity
• Strong understanding of IEP development and progress reporting
• Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and school teams
• Ability to adapt lessons and technology to meet students’ individualized needs
• Eager to commit to a full-time, onsite schedule for the duration of the contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct 1:1 instruction to children with visual impairments, tailoring educational strategies to each student
• Develop, implement, and monitor progress on individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure seamless integration into the school environment
• Advise on adaptive materials, technology supports, and accessibility tools
• Maintain thorough documentation and communicate regularly with families and educational teams
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and accessible learning space
