Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure is required
- Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Comfortable with both in-person and virtual teaching formats
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Able to develop customized instructional materials and adapt curriculum as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access and engagement in all subjects
- Assess student needs, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
- Adapt curriculum and learning environments for accessibility, incorporating assistive technology as needed
- Travel to various school sites as an itinerant teacher (if teaching in-person)
- Maintain accurate records and stay current with best practices in visual impairment education
