Empower students by guiding them toward independence and success as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This full-time, contract position is available for the entire 26/27 school year and is based in-person near Moses Lake, WA. While the core of the role is on-site, there is flexibility to consider hybrid scheduling, recognizing the need for work-life balance. Working in an itinerant capacity, you'll support students across multiple school sites, providing critical educational services and tailored accommodations.
Qualifications:
- Active Washington TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) licensure required
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
- Previous experience in schools with children or adolescents preferred
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility
- Effective communication and organization abilities
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to visually impaired students across various sites
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families
- Develop and implement IEPs and maintain thorough documentation
- Support students in gaining skills for self-advocacy and independence
- Recommend appropriate accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology
- Travel between schools within the region as needed
