Make a difference in the lives of students with visual impairments as a part-time, itinerant educator serving elementary and middle school learners. Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement required
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials
- Skilled at developing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to travel between multiple sites within the district
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in both elementary and middle school settings
- Assess student needs and collaborate with educational teams to create effective plans and accommodations
- Consult with teachers and staff regarding strategies, materials, and accessibility modifications
- Encourage and foster student independence and self-advocacy skills in school environments
- Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and services
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing educational planning
