Key Qualifications and Experience:
- State teaching certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Orientation and Mobility (O&M) certification strongly preferred
- Experience adapting curriculum, materials, and environment for visually impaired learners
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education teachers, support staff, and families
- Strong communication, advocacy, and organizational skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing assignments and student needs
Role Overview and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and orientation and mobility training to students across three schools (assignments subject to change)
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with student teams
- Perform functional vision and learning media assessments and make instructional recommendations
- Adapt materials and classroom environments for accessibility using braille, large print, tactile graphics, and technology
- Serve as a resource, offering guidance on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
- Participate in district-wide initiatives to foster inclusion and success for visually impaired students
Position Details:
- Contract runs immediately through December 18, 2026, with the potential to extend for the full academic year
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Locations span multiple buildings within the district, providing diversity and variety in daily experiences
