This full-time contract opportunity for the 2025–2026 academic year will allow you to serve a diverse caseload of visually impaired students. You’ll collaborate with passionate educators across multiple grade levels, helping students thrive and reach their full potential.
In this influential role, you will:
Qualifications and Skills:
- Hold a valid Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments (required—non-negotiable)
- Possess experience teaching students who are visually impaired, ideally across K–12
- Demonstrate strong ability to design and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Approach every classroom challenge with resourcefulness and a solutions-oriented mindset
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to help students with visual impairments access the curriculum and progress toward their individual goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to foster an inclusive school environment
- Assess and implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology to maximize student access and independence
- Communicate regularly with families and support teams to ensure continuity of services
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to IEPs, assessments, and student progress
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, supportive school culture
