- Creative problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset
- Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher in school settings preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and meaningful engagement
- Assess students’ individual needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) with measurable goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments
- Train staff and students on the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility techniques, and other adaptive tools
- Advocate for accommodations, modifications, and resources that support student success
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation, adjusting plans as needed
