Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Texas Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) educator license is required
  • Experience working with students in Grades K–12 preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
  • Experience with IEP development and progress monitoring is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple campuses
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success
  • Assess student vision needs and participate in eligibility determination, developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide guidance and training on assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided
  • Stay current with best practices, resources, and educational strategies for students with visual impairments
