Preferred Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Experience supporting students in school settings is highly valued
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Flexibility to work across multiple grade levels, adjusting to various learning styles and needs
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt instructional materials
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and adaptive educational strategies tailored to visually impaired students
- Assess students’ academic and functional vision needs, maintaining accurate records
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Consult with staff to modify curriculum, create accessible classroom environments, and integrate assistive technology
- Offer support and resources to families, empowering them to aid in their child's education
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student evaluations
