Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Knowledge of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to students’ individual needs
- Willingness to collaborate with educational teams, including related service providers and family members
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Design and implement instructional strategies and accommodations
- Instruct students in the use of braille, low vision devices, and other adaptive equipment
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure accessibility and promote inclusion
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Participate in school meetings, providing professional input on students’ needs
