Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
- Strong proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers, administrators, and families
- Ability to travel between school sites, if required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess the educational needs of students with visual impairments and create tailored instructional plans
- Provide direct instruction and guidance on Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive devices
- Consult with general education teachers to adapt classroom materials and environments
- Work closely with families to support student progress and independence
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in best practices for visual impairment education
