Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification and appropriate endorsements for working with visually impaired students
- Prior experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Compassion, patience, and a deep commitment to equitable education for all students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across various grade levels, adapting curriculum as needed
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student goals
- Introduce and support the use of Braille materials and assistive technologies for enhancing student participation
- Assess student progress, document achievements, and adjust teaching approaches as required
- Promote self-advocacy and independent living skills for students with visual impairments
