Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution required
  • Active state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience or strong interest in 1:1 instruction with pediatric students
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and families
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instructional support and adaptive strategies to a visually impaired student in accordance with their IEP
  • Modify curriculum, classroom materials, and teaching methods to address the student’s unique learning needs
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining thorough records and adjusting plans as needed in consultation with the educational team
  • Utilize specialized technology and resources to enhance accessibility and maximize student learning outcomes
  • Provide support and guidance to classroom staff regarding best practices in accessibility
  • Engage in ongoing collaboration with school staff and participation in relevant meetings and professional development
