Teacher of Visually Impaired in Schaumburg, IL
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of visually impaired students by stepping into an influential role as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This is an on-site, full-time contract opportunity near Schaumburg, IL, supporting a diverse group of students ranging from Pre-K through transition ages. You’ll work as an itinerant professional, traveling between multiple school sites within the district to provide essential vision-related services and leadership.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with a visual impairments endorsement for Illinois
- Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- At least 5 years of prior school-based experience
- Comprehensive expertise in the field of visual impairments
- Strong mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills
- Fingerprinting and background check required prior to start
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct vision-related services to students in a variety of school settings
- Offer guidance to staff, students, and families on best practices in vision impairment education
- Lead training, mentoring, and coaching initiatives for both new and returning vision services staff
- Foster collaborative problem-solving and advocate for relevant resources throughout the school community
- Support caseload management and documentation for students across Pre-K through transition to adulthood
