Key Qualifications:
- National Certification required, such as credentialing from the Library of Congress or an equivalent authority
- Proficiency in Braille transcription, reading, and materials preparation
- Experience working in K–12 academic environments, adapting resources for students with visual impairments
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when creating Braille documents
- Strong communication abilities and collaborative spirit
Primary Responsibilities:
- Translate classroom materials into Braille and other accessible formats
- Support teachers and staff in implementing resources for visually impaired students
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness in the production of tactile learning aids
- Collaborate with educational teams, families, and service providers to address student needs
- Utilize adaptive technology and assistive devices as necessary
- Provide guidance to school personnel on best practices for visually impaired student inclusion
