Virtual Teacher of Visually Impaired in CO
A full-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired/Orientation and Mobility Specialist specializing in telehealth services and orthopedic impairment education. This role supports students with visual and physical disabilities, helping to enhance their learning experiences and daily living skills throughout the school year.
Location: Denver, CO
Contract: Full school year
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments and orthopedic impairments.
- Provide orientation and mobility training to develop students' independence and confidence in navigating their environment.
- Implement telehealth services to maintain continuity of education and therapy remotely when needed.
- Collaborate with educational staff and families to tailor individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure consistent progress monitoring.
- Assess students’ needs regularly and adapt teaching strategies to maximize learning outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
- Experience working with students who have orthopedic impairments and visual disabilities.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote instruction methods.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective partnership with educators, therapists, and families.
- Commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and physical development throughout the academic year.
