Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Colorado
A full-time teaching position is available for a professional skilled in educating students with visual impairments and providing orientation and mobility instruction. This role supports student development through telehealth services and direct classroom instruction, designed to foster independence and academic achievement over the course of a full school year.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, including those with orthopedic impairments, using evidence-based strategies.
- Providing orientation and mobility training to help students safely navigate their environments.
- Utilizing telehealth platforms to ensure continuity of services and support remote learners effectively.
- Collaborating with school staff and families to create individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Conducting assessments and maintaining accurate records to monitor student progress.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
- Experience providing telehealth educational services in a school setting.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for orthopedic impairments.
- Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and environments.
