Virtual Teacher of Visually Impaired in CO
An opportunity is available for a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired and Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the full school year. This role focuses on delivering specialized educational services to students with visual impairments through telehealth and in-person instruction. The position supports the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with visual and orthopedic impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments and orthopedic needs using telehealth and onsite methods.
- Conduct orientation and mobility training to enhance student independence and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with education teams to develop and update individualized education programs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents, caregivers, and related service providers.
- Stay current with best practices and specialized teaching methods for visually impaired students.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
- Experience with orientation and mobility instruction.
- Ability to deliver telehealth services effectively.
- Knowledge of orthopedic impairments and strategies to support affected students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
