Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working 1:1 with pediatric students is highly desirable
- Ability to adapt materials and instructional strategies for visually impaired learners
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with families, staff, and support services
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to a pediatric student with visual impairment
- Assess student abilities and tailor curriculum to meet specific needs and learning styles
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and related service providers to create accessible educational resources
- Track student progress, develop and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and participate in team meetings
- Promote self-advocacy, independence, and confidence in your student
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in visual impairment education within the school community
