Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired
- Strong grasp of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Comfortable designing and adapting curriculum to individual education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, staff, families, and outside service providers
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across assigned grade levels and settings
- Assess each student’s abilities and develop individualized educational plans
- Adapt materials, create tactile and auditory learning aids, and facilitate access to educational resources
- Support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications
- Advocate for the needs of visually impaired learners within the school community
- Maintain accurate documentation and track student progress
