Make a difference by providing expert support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) on a part-time, contract basis. Through direct involvement with students who have visual impairments, you'll empower learners to access education in meaningful ways—all while working just 5 hours per week for immediate impact.
Your role will focus on individualized teaching and adapting materials and strategies to ensure each student’s unique needs are met. You'll collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals to create a fully accessible and supportive educational environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with children with visual impairments, preferably in a school or educational setting
- Solid understanding of adaptive instructional techniques, Braille, assistive technologies, and orientation and mobility strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving and adapting curriculum
- Strong advocacy for student needs and inclusion
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor instructional plans tailored to each student’s visual and educational requirements
- Work closely with classroom teachers and related service providers to adapt materials and assessments
- Teach students Braille, use of assistive devices, and essential life skills as needed
- Contribute to IEP teams and document student progress
- Provide guidance and training to staff and families on best practices supporting visually impaired students
