Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
• Current state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Previous experience in 1:1 pediatric educational settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, families, and specialists
• Adaptable and resourceful approach to individualized instruction
• Commitment to fostering independence and facilitating access to the full curriculum

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, one-on-one instruction to a student with visual impairment, adapting materials and strategies to meet individual needs
• Work closely with the educational team to develop and implement appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Assess the student’s progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary
• Collaborate with families to support student success both in and outside the classroom
• Advocate for student accommodations and accessibility within the school setting
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation of services and student outcomes
• Participate in professional development and relevant school meetings
