Primary Qualifications:
- Current KY SPED License with Visually Impaired (VI) endorsement required
- Experience supporting students who are blind or visually impaired in a school setting preferred
- Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching materials to varied vision needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with assistive technology and braille instruction is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the needs of students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, compensatory skills, and independent living skills
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to modify classroom materials and activities
- Conduct assessments of students' vision-related needs and document progress regularly
- Serve as a resource to staff and families, offering strategies and support for student success
- Advocate for accessible environments and ensure compliance with relevant policies
