Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, or related field
- Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairments (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with K-12 students with blindness or visual impairments preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop individualized curriculum and adapt learning materials
- Organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in resource, itinerant, or inclusive settings
- Complete functional vision assessments, learning media assessments, and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Provide Braille instruction, orientation and mobility training, and use of adaptive devices and technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and specialists to ensure student access to curriculum and classroom activities
- Support school staff through training and consultation on best practices for visually impaired students
- Maintain thorough documentation of progress, services, and compliance requirements
