Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive tools
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in various educational settings
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and lesson plans
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and progress
- Instruct students in Braille, orientation and mobility, use of adaptive equipment, and other skills for independence
- Support classroom teachers in adapting materials and instruction for accessibility
- Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and outside professionals to advocate for student needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and related school activities
