Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience supporting students in a 1:1 setting, especially with pediatric populations
- Solid understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive strategies for visually impaired learners
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction and support to a student with visual impairment
- Design and adapt educational materials to meet the student’s learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service professionals, and family members
- Evaluate student progress and contribute to IEP meetings and documentation
- Promote student independence, engagement, and inclusion in all school activities
- Guide and mentor school staff on best practices for accessibility and assistive technology
