This full-time, on-site contract opportunity is perfect for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired seeking a long-term placement. You’ll provide one-on-one instruction, collaborating with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure your student’s academic and functional needs are fully met. Candidates from out of the area who enjoy travel assignments are welcome.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution required
- State Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working in a school environment, specifically providing individualized instruction to pediatric populations, is highly desirable
- Committed to fostering empowerment and independence for visually impaired students through tailored teaching strategies and assistive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to partner with families, educational teams, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to a visually impaired student, implementing best practices and utilizing adaptive resources
- Conduct ongoing assessments to track progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly
- Consult with classroom teachers to develop accessible curriculum materials and modify classroom activities
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and write effective, data-driven progress reports
- Advocate for the student’s needs and provide training/support to staff and family as needed
