Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Comprehensive understanding of tools, adaptations, and technologies for visually impaired students
  • Experience collaborating with special education teams and families
  • Strong communication skills for providing guidance and support
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
  • Conduct assessments to determine student needs and monitor progress
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
  • Provide training and support on assistive technology and orientation & mobility techniques
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to IEP meetings
