Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of Braille and accessible technology (preferred)
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility, empathy, and a strong commitment to student-centered practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
  • Adapt classroom materials and environments to ensure full accessibility
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to foster inclusive practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding progress and compliance
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized education plans
  • Serve as a resource on strategies, assistive technology, and best practices for visual impairments
