Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Current teaching certificate with Vision endorsement from Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
- Images of relevant licenses required for onboarding
- Background check, fingerprinting, and employment history review in accordance with House Bill 486
- Experience teaching or providing support to visually impaired students preferred
- Proficiency in Braille a plus, but not required – training and assignment tailored to skill level
- A collaborative mindset for working alongside an existing team of vision professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct vision services in assigned cluster of schools, organized for travel efficiency
- Support students from a range of age groups as specified in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Participate virtually in IEP meetings to maximize instructional time
- Adapt instruction materials and strategies to individual student needs
- Consult with teachers, families, and related service providers
This position begins August 31, 2026, and runs through June 17, 2027, with full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time (full days preferred) options discussed during the interview.
