On-site support is essential, but to promote work-life balance, all IEP meetings are attended virtually, minimizing unnecessary travel. Whether you have advanced Braille skills or are still developing in this area, your unique strengths will help determine the ideal assignment, ensuring meaningful work and professional growth.

Qualifications and Experience Sought:

  • Current teaching certificate with Vision endorsement from Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
  • Images of relevant licenses required for onboarding
  • Background check, fingerprinting, and employment history review in accordance with House Bill 486
  • Experience teaching or providing support to visually impaired students preferred
  • Proficiency in Braille a plus, but not required – training and assignment tailored to skill level
  • A collaborative mindset for working alongside an existing team of vision professionals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct vision services in assigned cluster of schools, organized for travel efficiency
  • Support students from a range of age groups as specified in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Participate virtually in IEP meetings to maximize instructional time
  • Adapt instruction materials and strategies to individual student needs
  • Consult with teachers, families, and related service providers

This position begins August 31, 2026, and runs through June 17, 2027, with full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time (full days preferred) options discussed during the interview.
