Preferred candidates will bring expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI), Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist, or Braille Transcriber. Candidates with dual certification in VI teaching and O&M are especially encouraged to apply and will have the opportunity to serve in a versatile capacity, addressing a broad spectrum of student needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching credential for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (VI) required
  • Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist certification highly desirable
  • Experience with individualized educational planning and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Braille transcription expertise welcomed for those interested in that aspect of the role
  • Passion for supporting access, independence, and inclusion for students with visual impairments

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction according to each student’s IEP
  • Assess student needs and collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families
  • Provide guidance and support in orientation and mobility, as applicable
  • Contribute to creating accessible instructional materials, including braille and tactile resources
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and services
