Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching credential for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (VI) required
- Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist certification highly desirable
- Experience with individualized educational planning and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Braille transcription expertise welcomed for those interested in that aspect of the role
- Passion for supporting access, independence, and inclusion for students with visual impairments
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction according to each student’s IEP
- Assess student needs and collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families
- Provide guidance and support in orientation and mobility, as applicable
- Contribute to creating accessible instructional materials, including braille and tactile resources
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and services
