Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a focus on Visual Impairment (TVI)
- Previous experience working in a K-12 school setting is highly preferred
- Knowledge of current instructional strategies for students who are blind or visually impaired
- Proficiency in Braille, large print, or adaptive technologies beneficial
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, educators, and families
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction based on students’ individual needs
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, accessible learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction for visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and school staff to support accessibility
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Provide guidance on using assistive technology and other specialized learning tools
- Engage with families to ensure holistic support for each student’s growth
- Participate in relevant trainings and professional development
