Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired; additional O&M specialist certification is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in instructional strategies and adaptive technology for visually impaired students.
- Proficiency in braille reading and writing; experience as a braille transcriber is a plus.
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Consult with staff and families to adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods.
- Support students in orientation and mobility, fostering independence and confidence.
- Contribute to assessments, progress reporting, and educational planning.
- Share resources and best practices with colleagues, and assist in providing training to staff when needed.
