Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one year of experience operating Braille typing equipment
- Certification as a Braille transcriber strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in transcription
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with educators and staff
- Commitment to fostering accessibility and inclusion in education
Responsibilities:
- Convert textbooks, classroom handouts, tests, and other printed materials into Braille for use by students
- Work as part of an educational team to meet the individual needs of learners who are blind or have low vision
- Ensure all learning materials are prepared in advance for classroom use
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in handling student information
- Adapt quickly to changing curricula and classroom requirements
- Participate in training or supervision as provided by the district to ensure best practices
