- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience providing instruction to students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
- Ability to create and modify accessible instructional materials
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and adapt curriculum for accessibility and effective learning
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility skills, and use of assistive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify materials and develop instructional strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings; contribute to writing and implementing IEP goals
- Offer guidance to school staff on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records to ensure ongoing success
