Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, with certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Proven experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired across various age groups.
- Familiarity with assessment tools, adaptive technology, and Braille instruction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working alongside classroom staff, families, and related service providers.
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum materials.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings.
- Adapt curriculum materials to accessible formats including Braille, large print, or digital as appropriate.
- Partner with general education teachers to ensure modifications and accommodations are effectively implemented.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals.
- Train school staff or family members in the use of assistive technology and relevant instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and service delivery.
