Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Brownsville, Texas

Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with school-aged students who are blind or have low vision
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and accessible curriculum
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, students, and families
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials and teaching methods
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ individual needs and create tailored instructional plans
- Provide direct and consultative services to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented effectively
- Teach Braille reading and writing, assistive technology, orientation, and mobility skills when appropriate
- Collaborate closely with education staff, related service providers, and families to facilitate student success
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with IEP requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise and advocacy for students with visual impairments
- Remain up-to-date on current best practices, resources, and strategies for working with visually impaired learners
