Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Proficiency with braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creativity, flexibility, and a passion for fostering student independence
- Ability to travel between sites as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and modify curriculum for students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and collaborate in developing and updating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct and consultative services to classroom teachers, support staff, and families
- Train students in the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and accommodations
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and required documentation
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support student success
