Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working in educational settings with students who are blind or have low vision
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instructional materials to support visual accessibility
- Ability to conduct functional vision assessments and create individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Comfort with providing direct and consultative services in both classroom and resource settings
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities and Core Duties:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
- Adapt and modify curriculum resources, classroom materials, and assessments for accessibility
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs for appropriate educational planning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
- Provide training and resources for staff on best practices in educating visually impaired students
- Participate in IEP meetings and help develop measurable student goals
- Support the integration and use of assistive technology as needed
