Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential/certification for Visual Impairment (TVI) or equivalent in the state
- Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school setting
- Familiarity with adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and accommodations for students with low vision or blindness
- Ability to design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school teams
- Strong organizational skills and a creative, resourceful approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, supporting both academic and functional skill development
- Create accessible instructional materials tailored to student needs, including large print, audio, and Braille formats
- Conduct and interpret vision-related assessments, recommending effective strategies and tools
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to develop and monitor progress on IEP goals
- Provide guidance on best practices for classroom adaptation and the integration of assistive technology
- Advocate for supportive resources and full inclusion of students across curricular and extracurricular activities
