Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Hopkins, MN

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Valid state certification/licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching students with a range of visual impairments, including low vision and blindness
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to adapt quickly and provide individual and group instruction in varied settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and develop personalized education plans tailored to unique learning styles
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, self-advocacy, and independent living skills
- Consult with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Monitor and document students’ progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of adaptive materials and devices, and provide resources to support student access
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
