Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in a school environment
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and individualized student achievement

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting methods to meet individual needs
  • Assess students’ skill levels and develop or modify appropriate IEP goals and instructional plans
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, aides, and family members to ensure an accessible learning environment
  • Offer recommendations and training for specialized equipment and classroom adaptations
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting approaches as needed for optimal growth
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions for student support
