To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree and active Louisiana DOE certification with endorsement for teaching the visually impaired (required).
- At least 3 years of experience in elementary, secondary, and/or special education.
- Detailed knowledge of assistive technology for the visually impaired and the ability to provide Braille instruction.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Mobility to travel between assigned locations and provide direct service and training.
- Orientation and mobility training preferred.
- Successful completion of drug screening and fingerprint clearance for district credentialing.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to visually impaired students in multiple JP sites.
- Support classroom teachers and obtain tailored resources and materials.
- Provide in-service training for school personnel.
- Maintain communication with both educational staff and state departments.
- Complete documentation and other assignments as required.
