Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs across different grade levels
- Knowledge of assistive technology and braille is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to a diverse caseload of visually impaired students (elementary through middle school)
- Travel between school sites (itinerant model) to deliver services and collaborate with educational teams
- Adapt curriculum, develop customized learning materials, and support use of specialized equipment
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and progress
- Offer training and guidance to staff and families to foster inclusive learning environments
- Complete documentation and maintain records in accordance with district and legal requirements
