Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement required
  • Solid understanding of strategies and tools for instructing students with visual impairments
  • Experience or training in diverse learning needs, Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and tactile graphics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and team members
  • Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to support individualized education plans

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students K-22 with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and administrators to provide comprehensive support
  • Adapt curriculum materials and integrate assistive technology to maximize student access
  • Offer guidance, resources, and advocacy to families and staff
  • Monitor and document student progress toward learning goals
