Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Orland Park, IL

Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or in a similar educational role
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies for visually impaired students
- Strong understanding of specialized curriculum and IEP development
- State licensure or certification appropriate for teaching the visually impaired
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to visually impaired students
- Adapt lesson materials and assessments for accessibility
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and measure progress
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to integrate students into mainstream classrooms as appropriate
- Provide training to staff and support to families regarding specific needs and technologies
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with policies and legal requirements
